| The CBS Examination aims at testing a secretary's potential and capability to handle top-level administrative assignments in a bilingual (English/Japanese) work environment, coupled with an ability to adapt to different cultural demands. This program also strives to help establish goals for secretaries and assistants who are in international/bilingual business environments, and to establish and promulgate general qualifications applicable to bilingual secretaries and assistants as guidelines for employee's evaluating or selecting them. |

Those who are successful in the primary examination are granted the CBS Associate Certificate and can sit for the final examination. |

Those who are successful in the final examination are granted the CBS Certificate. |

Those who fail in any part of the primary or final examinations are entitled to sit for that part again in the following three years. |

CBS stands for Certified Bilingual Secretary. The CBS examination, known as the most difficult examination for secretaries in Japan, started in 1979 with the aim to raise local standards for fundamental secretarial skills and to further enhance these skills to meet global standards. |
